Early Mornings at Work = Ruined Sleep Schedule

I mentioned that I'm working days this week (and this week which just passed) and I thought I would get loads of sleep on the weekend. I was wrong. Very wrong. I consider myself to be a morning person, but I love my sleep. Before this past week of work I was sleeping in until 9 am. And now that a week of days has gone by.. Yesterday I was awake at 5:30 am, but I forced myself back to sleep, and didn't wake up until my mom banged on my door at 8 am telling me to get out of bed. This morning (Sunday) I woke up around 6:45 am (it is now just after 7) and I can honestly say that I haven't saw this time, on my own with no work to be at and no alarm, since I was in high school.. But I miss my good sleep schedule, at one point I had a record of sleeping until 10 am, but I just miss sleeping until 9 am. I'll get there again. After the end of next week (the week after this one) My sleep schedule may be sort of back to normal. Hopefully. I'll be working afternoons, so I w...

Caught Myself Wanting School

As a student, we all long for the freedom of summer. To do nothing, to hangout with friends, to sleep until whenever, stay up all night. Well you can...when you don't have a job. In school I was always that person too, I loved summer. It was the only time I could read and watch movies to my hearts content, and not be bothered with homework, or tests, or exams. Then the work thing started up after my grade 10 year, and it was a relatively simple job so it did effect my too bad, only two nights a week, and every other Saturday. When it came to my job in retail, that's when I started hating having a job, but I pushed through, and made it those two months of summer, dreading every day that came closer to school. I finally finished high school. It's amazing, I can do what I want now, right? Wrong. I decided on the path of college. Eight months of school in a year instead of ten. Its a change, but I was alright with it. Summer break for college kids is four months. I've m...

Getting a New Kitty

I do realize I missed posting yesterday, but I was super tired last night, after working all day. My exciting news though is my dad has agreed to let us get another cat. We had been talking, and talking. And he has been saying that we were not getting another cat, but when his co-worker just happened to need to get rid of their cat, I think I convinced him. And possibly in 2 weeks I will have a new kitty running around the house. She's 2 years old, only a year younger than my current kitty. I just hope they like each other.

Early Rising

Let me just start by saying... I do not like waking up early. I'm known to be a morning person, but if you wake me up, I can be a grouch. The thing I realize is the only way I wake up in a decent mood is if I wake up on my own. For the past two weeks..I was waking up between 9 am and 10 am, which is my standard summer wake up time, lol. The rest of the year I usually I wake up around 8 am. And then for the next two weeks I get to be woken up at 5 am...its not a thrill. This morning I pulled the blanket back over my head, and tried going back to bed, but of course that didn't work. Ah well, the week had better come faster, that's all I'm saying.

My Weekend

Image
So this weekend I had fun with some friends. My friend from my last college came down, and my best friend (who only lives a couple minutes away) came over. Our original plan was to semi-permanently dye each of our hair. I was supposed to have purple, but the colour didn't work, so I ended up using my best friends teal colour in my hair, and it turned out well. Here's a picture of my best friend and I (I'm the redhead) : Now I do understand that the lighting is bright, but that's clearly because we took the picture outside. We had fun, and that's what matters. We also had a Hunger Games marathon, which was fantastic. The best part was that after we dyed our hair we went to town and played some mini-golf (which I just happened to win I might add). And our mini-golf game was strictly for fun, which it was. And I was so excited when I managed to get the only hole-in-one.  But yes, an exciting weekend was had. And now for these next two weeks I'm on day...

My Boss is Awesome

I've been at my summer job for 2 weeks now, and the people there are awesome (and a little crazy 😄 ). But last night my boss told me something great. He told me that he was giving me today (Friday) off, and that I was to have a good long weekend, and we're on days for the next two weeks. Now I do understand that I won't get paid today, and I really need money for school, but a day off is a day off, I'm not going to argue with anyone. My boss really is a nice guy, he's always smiling (even while its hot in the factory), and talks to everyone. I was going to type this when I got home last night, but I figured I'd better wait until I can actually form words and sentences 😏

New Summer Job

So typically in the summer I have worked in retail, or in a building owned by my county. This summer though I was really low on cash, and going back to college money is really needed. Well I just happened to find out that the factory my dad works at was hiring students for the summer. And because its a factory I would be getting paid more than working in retail, and I would be getting twice the amount of hours (because I would be full time instead of part-time). Well I've made it through my first week there... It does get warm in there, and its definitely a change compared to being in a place with air conditioning. But I've survived the week. Now hopefully I can survive August, which tends to be the hottest month in the year. But so far all I've been doing is cleaning is working on a nut-welder. It has not been overly fun, but HEY! Who said work was fun?

My Dream Home (Exterior)

Now the exterior of my dream home varies. Some days I imagine that I was to live in a condo because I love the modern design. But other times I imagine living in a home that's older, and having the modern interior. That way I would be showing my old soul on the exterior of the home, and my love for modern furniture on the interior. Luckily for me there's a city nearby where I live that has an older side to it, and a newer part of the city on the other side, so I could have the best of both worlds if I wanted to live there. If anyone is curious, the city I am referring to is Cambridge, Ontario.

Why My Posts Aren't Constant

I started a new job this week in a factory for the summer. Of course the week I started on was afternoons (I leave home at 2pm for work). I'm not the kind of person who can stay up late for days at a time, I prefer to go to bed earlier, typically around 10pm. But because I'm working afternoons, and I don't get home until almost midnight (and don't start to get tired until at least an hour later) I sleep in until 9-10am the next day, and have to plan my breaks, and get ready for work. These shifts are not good for me, but to make up for it, weeks that I'm on afternoons I will post on the following weekends. Meaning this weekend and next weekend I will be posting. The two weeks after that I'm on days and I should be home around 3:30pm still plenty of time to post. Keep in mind that I'm from Ontario, Canada so times will probably be different for each country .

My Dream Bathroom

Yes you did read the title correct. I have a dream bathroom too. And like some of the other rooms, I'm not 100% sure what I want. But I do want a white, modern bathroom, and possibly have white tiles with a touch of blue in them. I would want blue accents to reflect the beach feel. I've always thought of having a walk-in shower, but I would be totally fine with a tub/shower combo. This must have been the shortest entry I've done, but it's a bathroom, what's there to say? 😅

My Dream Bedroom

Image
To continue my trend these past couple entries... I will talk about what I would love my dream bedroom to look like. Lets state the obvious first, it needs to be modern with that beach vibe. The blue would be carried through the room as well,  but I would love for the comforter to have the blue, because who doesn't love a coloured comforter?  I was thinking something like in the picture:  The only difference would be I would prefer something with a little darker blue (and clearly have the headboard modernized). The beside tables would probably be glass because, I love glass for some reason. And I would have a white fur rug around the bed because that's always a great feeling for your feet in the morning. I haven't really thought of the bedroom, but one day I will know what I want. But for now this is what I want in a bedroom.

My Dream Living and Dining Area

Image
Continuing with my dream home. I will explain what I would love to have in my dream living and dining area. I know most people when explaining what they want in their dream home, they won't go into specifics, but because I'm a design student, I do. I've always wanted to have a glass dining table because of how sleek of an appearance they can have. I also just have a love for glass. As for chairs I would want to put with the glass table...I haven't decided yet, as long as they are modern and reflect my beachy feel everything would fit and work great. Of course the dining area would be right off the kitchen, but I would still bring in some blues through decor to make it blend in with each other. Something similar to the picture on the right. I also decided to add in my dream living area into this post because I'm not 100% sure how I would want the living area. It would need to be comfy, because that's the kind of person I am. I need comfy furniture, but it ne...

My Dream Kitchen

Image
Today I thought I should talk about the design aspect of my life. I love to talk about what I want my dream house to look like. So today I'll keep it contained to how I want my dream kitchen to look. To start, I've always wanted dark wood floors just because I love how they look, but I'm still deciding whether I would actually want my floor to be dark, but what I do know is I would want hardwood flooring throughout the entire home, including the kitchen. Kitchen Example The kitchen itself though I would love to have as either an 'L' shape, or  'U' shape. But I would want it open to the living area. And to really express who I am I would want coloured cabinets. I'm the kind of person who can be seen as "boring" so I almost always let my clothes and shoes give my life colour. So I would do the same in the home. I like to think I love the beach feel, but it needs to be a modern beachy feel. To achieve that modern beachy feel I would have t...

The Need to Travel

Image
I have always loved to travel, even though sometimes my body does not like to travel. I haven't gotten a chance to go travel anywhere for two years. My family used to go to the East coast of Canada every other year, but that has since stopped because of lack of money. We have managed to go on a cruise before, and I must say... the unlimited food was amazing for a foodie like me. That same cruise was the same time I could say that I've been to the Bahamas. The time that I spent on that trip was great and there is no words for the trip. The last time I traveled anywhere was when my family and I drove to Florida and stayed there for a week. The picture here is the view we had every morning. There was a beautiful sunrise each morning, including this one, and the place we were staying at was just off the beach which was always great. The best thing was if the pool was filled with people we could always go to the beach, and if we wanted to walk somewhere we had a 10-15 minute wal...

Dealing With College

I apologize for not uploading anything yesterday. I was cleaning my house, and then went to the dentist, and unfortunately my filling hurt the rest of the day, and I didn't really want to do anything. Today though I was busy at my new college for most of the day. And by most of the day I mean I was woken up today at 6:30 am and left for the college by 7 am and did not get home until around 2:30 pm. I had gone to a Head Start program at the college which is basically a chance to meet people from my program, and a chance to tour the college again, and learn any tidbits about the school that I did not know before. Unfortunately for me, I only benefited from getting to know people, and touring the school. The other information I had previously heard about from the college I went to last year. After going through the whole morning of things, I was told that the students who took the time to go to the program would get 30% off any clothes they purchased from the store. So naturally I ...

Weekend With My Cousin

It may or may not be known, but I was at my cousin's house for the weekend. She seemed to think I needed to "get out more". I definitely got out more this weekend. Every day/night we went out with her, her boyfriend, and their friends. The highlights of the weekend were watching fireworks the night of Canada Day, sitting by a river to watch them because it was easier to do that than to go to the park they were firing them off of. And the other highlight of the weekend was going to a campground for the afternoon to go on my cousin's blow up island on the water. It was a very relaxing two hours, until we came back in off the water, and I realized I had burnt (I have very fair skin, so it was going to happen, even though I did put on two coats of sunscreen). I had a great weekend. I think their cat seemed to enjoy my company this past weekend, and I also think my cousin enjoyed the fact that she had decent competition playing Mario Cart™  because her and I were neck a...
